On Saturday, the District Administration Anantnag escalated its campaign against illegal constructions by demolishing 15 structures at Waghama in Bijbehara. This action aligns with the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign, aimed at eradicating drug abuse and associated crimes in the region.
The crackdown targets drug peddlers and violators of the NDPS Act, showcasing the administration’s commitment to dismantling narcotics networks. Authorities believe that eliminating illegal assets linked to drug trafficking plays a vital role in this mission.
In a coordinated operation, revenue officials joined forces with the police department to demolish illegal shops. These structures, constructed on State and Kahcharai land corresponding to Khasra Nos. 2494 (min) and 2495 (min), had connections to individuals involved in narcotics violations, as per official sources.
This enforcement drive also facilitated the reclamation of encroached public lands, reinforcing the administration’s objective of safeguarding community property from unlawful occupation. By taking back control of these lands, the administration aims to restore their intended public utility.
Emphasizing a stringent approach, the District Administration pledged to maintain a rigorous offensive against drug trafficking and illegal encroachments. Officials stated, “Dismantling properties associated with drug trade is crucial for disrupting the flow of narcotics within the district.”
This operation is part of a broader strategy where the administration has declared a zero-tolerance policy towards drug-related activities. They warn that individuals found engaging in drug offenses or unauthorized land occupations will face severe legal repercussions as the campaign progresses.
The Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign, initiated to combat drug abuse, reflects the significant societal concerns around narcotics in Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities are expected to intensify their vigilance and enforcement measures, ensuring collaboration across different government branches.
As this crackdown continues, the anticipation grows among local residents and stakeholders who have long lamented the impacts of drug abuse in their communities. The administration’s current actions aim not only to dismantle illegal operations but also to foster a healthier environment conducive to public safety.
