This groundbreaking procedure took place on November 2, 2023, offering new hope to patients suffering from acute strokes in the region.
The thrombolysis procedure, a time-sensitive treatment, was conducted under the leadership of Principal Dr. Rakesh Bahl and the Head of the Medicine Department, Dr. Amir Hussain Parray. This achievement establishes GMC Doda as a pioneering centre for advanced stroke care locally.
The patient, identified as Roshan Lal, hailing from Devisar in Dolli, arrived at GMC Doda displaying classic stroke symptoms. Upon his arrival, the dedicated team, including Dr. Govinder Kumar (MD Medicine), along with Dr. Divyanshu and Dr. Momin, promptly evaluated and treated him. Their efforts received essential support from medical staff members Mr. Rajinder Singh and Mr. Arif Mir, highlighting the collaborative spirit within GMC Doda.
Doctors reported a positive response from Roshan Lal to the thrombolytic therapy, and he is now on the path to recovery. Previously, patients in the Doda area experiencing strokes faced the urgency of being transported to GMC Jammu or other high-level medical facilities, which often resulted in lost time during critical moments.
The successful thrombolysis procedure has transformed this scenario, ensuring that patients can now access vital stroke management directly within their district. Dr. Bahl emphasized the importance of this achievement, remarking, “This is a landmark achievement for GMC Doda and a reassurance for thousands of people in remote areas who can now access advanced treatment without delay.”
