Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the new Centre of Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital at Qamarwari in Srinagar today. He emphasized the importance of leveraging modern AI-powered systems to make healthcare accessible and affordable for all citizens of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
The Lieutenant Governor called upon the medical community to ensure that specialists connect with patients, particularly in rural and remote areas. He remarked, “Over the past decade, modern technologies have fundamentally transformed the eye care field to offer faster and more accurate diagnoses along with precise treatments.”
Sinha elaborated on the impact of AI-powered technologies, stating they enable doctors to detect early signs of disease and various eye problems. He urged Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre, along with other hospitals, to adopt these advanced technologies and provide the same level of treatment available in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai.
Highlighting the significant transformation in the healthcare sector of Jammu and Kashmir, Sinha said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are ensuring that every citizen has access to quality healthcare.” He noted the rapid expansion of both government and private healthcare infrastructure, ensuring a healthier future for all.
During the inauguration, Sinha encouraged Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and other institutions to hold free eye check-up camps across different regions of J&K, especially in rural and border areas, emphasizing a spirit of selfless service. He also stressed the need for greater reach through telemedicine services, virtual consultations, and digital examinations.
The ceremony saw the presence of Dr. Ashar Agarwal, Chief Business Officer of Dr. Agarwals Group of Eye Hospitals, Dr. Atif Ali Mir, Head of Clinical Services at Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital, along with various dignitaries including local government officials and health department secretaries.
Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary of the Science and Technology department, echoed Sinha’s sentiments regarding the critical role of technology in enhancing healthcare delivery. He reiterated the commitment to improving healthcare access through innovative solutions.
Both the Lieutenant Governor and the health officials pledged to continue integrating advanced technologies into healthcare services, ensuring personalized treatment and improved outcomes for all patients. The emphasis on AI in eye care aligns with global trends in healthcare innovation.
