The Delhi Police arrested two wanted criminals on Friday in the Kapashera area. The suspects, identified as Akash Rajput and Mahipal, allegedly have ties to foreign-based gangsters and were involved in serious crimes spanning multiple states.
Akash Rajput, a resident of Rajasthan, faced charges for numerous extortion and kidnapping cases in Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. His criminal activities prompted Rajasthan Police to announce a ₹20,000 bounty for his capture. He was particularly notorious for his involvement in a shooting incident outside a hospital in Assandh, Karnal, in July 2022, orchestrated by gangster Daler Kotia.
In a shocking revelation, police confirmed that Rajput was also wanted in a high-profile July 2025 abduction case in Gujarat. In this incident, notorious gangster Kirit Singh Jhala had reportedly demanded an exorbitant ₹100 crore ransom.
Further investigations revealed that Jhala had aligned himself with some infamous gangsters, including Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virender Charan. This network has raised considerable concerns among authorities due to its expanding operations.
Mahipal, the second accused, also hails from Rajasthan and had previously been arrested in connection with the Karnal firing case. Despite being released on bail, he resumed activities within the same criminal network.
During the police encounter, Rajput suffered a bullet injury in the lower body but was swiftly overpowered by officers. Medical personnel rushed him to the hospital for treatment, and law enforcement officials have initiated further investigations into their criminal activities.
This arrest comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Delhi Police to dismantle criminal organizations linked to gangsters operating across India. Their proactive approach aims to curb the rising trend of violent crimes, particularly those orchestrated by foreign-based networks.
