19-year-old Aarav Mahajan from Jammu has earned a prestigious call-up to the 18-member Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy squad for the upcoming domestic season. His selection follows a series of exceptional performances in multiple age-group tournaments, showcasing his potential as a top-order batter.
Aarav’s journey in cricket has seen him excel in competitions like the Cooch Behar Trophy (U-19), Vinoo Mankad Trophy, and the CK Nayudu Trophy (U-23). Throughout his U-19 appearances, he amassed nearly 700 runs, which include three centuries and three fifties. His form remained impressive in U-23 matches, where he notably scored a composed 87 runs.
His rigorous training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) has played a crucial role in his development. He attended three NCA camps, including the recent one held at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. Despite ranking 17th among the top U-19 run-getters in India last season, and narrowly missing a national call-up, Aarav’s consistency has paved the way for his well-deserved inclusion in the senior squad.
Expert cricket analysts view Aarav’s selection as a crucial milestone in his burgeoning career. His transition to the senior team not only highlights his talent but also reflects the growing investment in cricket development in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy squad includes notable players such as Kunal Chandela (Captain), Prashant Chopra, and Bhupendra Lalwani among others, with Aarav being one of the promising talents this season. This selection marks the beginning of a new chapter for Aarav in his cricketing journey.
