Delhi HC Grants Jailed MP Engineer Rashid Visit to Father

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday granted permission to jailed Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid for a visit to his ailing father at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). The court’s decision follows Rashid’s request based on the critical health condition of his father.

The court allowed the visit strictly under police escort, emphasizing the need for adequate security measures during the movement and stay of the incarcerated MP. This decision reflects the court’s consideration of humanitarian concerns in light of the medical urgency involved.

Engineer Rashid, who currently remains in judicial custody, submitted his plea to the court, detailing his father’s ongoing treatment at AIIMS. The plea underscored the family’s distress due to the critical nature of the father’s health issues, appealing for a temporary reprieve to allow this vital visit.

The High Court, after reviewing the urgency surrounding the case, approved Rashid’s request with specific conditions. It mandated that the visit be time-bound and conducted solely under strict supervision to ensure compliance with security protocols.

The authorities will finalize the exact duration and the logistics of the visit, ensuring that all necessary precautions are upheld during this time-sensitive situation. The court’s ruling has been met with relief by the politician’s family, highlighting the importance of family support during health crises.
