RAMBAN, JULY 08: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gool, Imtiaz, chaired a crucial meeting on disaster preparedness today to review emergency response mechanisms and inter-departmental coordination. The meeting addressed vulnerabilities to natural hazards such as floods, landslides, and cloudbursts within the Gool sub-division.
The meeting attracted significant attendance, including Tehsildar Harjeet Singh, SDPO Kuldeep Raj, and various AEE officers from Jal Shakti, PWD, and PMGSY. Additionally, stakeholders from Health, PDD, FCS&CA, SDRF, and local police contributed to the discussions.
During this pivotal gathering, SDM Imtiaz conducted a thorough evaluation of the existing disaster management framework. He reviewed crucial aspects such as the availability of personnel, machinery, and essential supplies, along with the efficiency of control rooms and communication networks in the sub-division.
Recognizing the imminent monsoon season, the SDM directed all departments to maintain a high level of alertness. He emphasized the necessity for continuous monitoring of disaster-prone areas susceptible to landslides and flooding.
Imtiaz urged departments, including Jal Shakti, PWD, and PMGSY, to take proactive measures by identifying vulnerable locations. He instructed them to deploy restoration teams and keep essential machinery in a state of readiness for immediate action.
The Health department received directives to ensure an adequate supply of medicines and medical staff availability at CHC Gool and various PHCs. The FCS&CA department was tasked with maintaining a buffer stock of rations, while PDD was given the responsibility to uphold backup power arrangements during emergencies.
Further, the SDM urged Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars to routinely visit high-risk areas, update records of disaster-prone locales, and boost public awareness about safety protocols during disasters.
The police forces and the 23 RR were also called upon to support rescue and evacuation operations, ensuring that rapid response mechanisms are in place. Additionally, Beacon representatives were given the responsibility to restore roads swiftly in case of blockades.
SDM Imtiaz reiterated that ensuring the safety of lives and property remains the foremost priority of the administration. He reassured attendees that effective collaboration, timely responses, and active public involvement are essential in mitigating the impacts of potential disasters.
By creating a structure for effective disaster management and reinforcing community engagement, the administration aims to fortify resilience against natural calamities in the Gool sub-division.
