Five individuals suffered injuries when two vehicles collided near Zojila Pass on Monday. The incident took place in the early hours, catching the attention of local authorities and emergency services.
An official from the disaster management team confirmed that the injured victims were promptly transferred to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sonamarg. Following initial treatment, medical staff referred them to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Soura for specialized care.
The injured are identified as Manzoor Hussain, son of Sadiq Ali Balti, Shabir Hussain, son of Hussain Ali Balti, Sadiqa Bano, wife of Manzoor Hussain Balti, Masrat Zara, daughter of Manzoor Hussain, and Fareeda Bano, daughter of Moad Hussain. All the victims hail from Kargil and are currently receiving treatment.
The police took immediate cognizance of the incident and have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Transport experts recommend adhering to traffic rules and safety measures, especially in mountainous regions where conditions can change rapidly.
