Kupwara, September 22: Deputy Commissioner Shrikant Suse (IAS) flagged off a group of beneficiaries from the DC Office Complex Kupwara today for an exposure-cum-training visit to the Government Sheep Breeding Farm, Poshnar in Rajwar Kupwara. This initiative, organized by the Department of Sheep Husbandry under the SEWA PARV program, aims to equip local breeders with essential skills in modern sheep rearing.

The Deputy Commissioner commended the efforts of the Sheep Husbandry Department, assuring the beneficiaries of comprehensive support in adopting advanced methods of sheep rearing. He highlighted that livestock holds immense potential for generating livelihoods and enhancing income, especially in rural areas where agriculture remains a primary source of sustenance.

On this significant occasion, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Dr. Ishrat explained that the exposure program is designed to provide beneficiaries with hands-on training and practical demonstrations encompassing scientific sheep rearing, effective flock management, breeding practices, and animal health care. Such initiatives aim to empower farmers to adopt improved management practices, boost productivity, and ensure better animal welfare.

Moreover, technical experts from the department will conduct interactive sessions at the farm. This engagement will enable beneficiaries to learn firsthand about modern technologies that yield higher returns and sustainable growth in sheep husbandry. With a focus on innovative practices, the program will showcase techniques that local farmers can replicate at the grassroots level to achieve better outcomes.

This initiative demonstrates the Department of Sheep Husbandry’s commitment to enhancing the socio-economic conditions of sheep rearers in Kupwara. By promoting self-reliance through livestock-based entrepreneurship, the program contributes significantly to strengthening the rural economy in the region.
