RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat reinforced the organization’s commitment to ‘vyakti nirman’ (character building) during the Vijayadashami event held in Nagpur on Thursday. This event marked the centenary celebration of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a significant moment in the organization’s history.
Bhagwat addressed a gathering of swayamsevaks, sharing insights drawn from the organisation’s 100-year journey. He stated, “Over the last 100 years, the RSS has been offered temptations and even invited to enter politics. But the Sangh has focused only on running shakhas and character-building.” His message underscored the importance of personal integrity over political affiliations.
The RSS chief called for gradual reforms in the global order. He emphasized that “India must present a development model based on a holistic and integrated outlook, rooted in dharma, and offer it to the world.” This approach aims to ensure sustained growth without the risks of abrupt changes.
Explaining the essence of dharma, Bhagwat defined it not as mere rituals, but as integral principles connecting all facets of society. He advocated for social transformation through visible examples of integrity and selflessness, values that the RSS aims to instil through its shakhas.
Bhagwat affirmed that vyakti nirman represents the right path for engendering sustainable social change. He portrayed the collective experience of swayamsevaks as a testament to this principle.
He also acknowledged India’s vast diversity, highlighting the rich tapestry of languages, faiths, lifestyles, and traditions as a national strength. Bhagwat stated, “All communities, including those who adopted foreign religions, are part of the larger Indian identity.” This statement called for fostering harmony and mutual respect among all citizens.
Addressing the issues of hooliganism and communal discord, Bhagwat urged law enforcement agencies to act impartially, without bias. He cautioned society, particularly the youth, to remain vigilant and organized, advocating a proactive stance to safeguard peace and harmony.
The gathering resonated with a sense of unity and commitment to the core values of the RSS, encapsulated in Bhagwat’s vision for a peaceful and integrated society.
