In a pressing update on national security, Border Security Force (BSF) Inspector General (IG) Ashok Yadav revealed on Saturday that terrorists await opportunities at launch pads along the Line of Control (LoC) to infiltrate the Kashmir Valley. With increased infiltration attempts expected as winter nears, the BSF assures preparedness to thwart any such initiatives.
Speaking with reporters, Yadav stated that the months leading up to snowfall witness heightened infiltration activities. “The period before winter brings a surge in infiltration attempts. With roughly two months remaining until significant snowfall, the terrorists are eager to exploit any chance before the harsh weather conditions limit their movement for the next six months,” he explained.
Yadav elaborated that these terrorist groups remain persistent in their attempts to breach the LoC, particularly in sectors like Bandipora and Kupwara. “There is significant terrorist presence on the launch pads directly across our Area of Responsibility (AOR). They lie in wait for opportunities to infiltrate, often using inclement weather conditions as cover. Despite these attempts, our security measures are robust and well-coordinated,” he said.
The IG emphasized the pivotal role of technology in modern security operations. “The BSF, in collaboration with the Indian Army, maintains a stronghold over the LoC, aided by advanced surveillance equipment. Our ability to monitor and dominate the area effectively discourages infiltration efforts,” Yadav asserted.
He cited that two infiltration attempts had already been foiled this year, illustrating the effectiveness of proactive measures taken by the forces. “Our staying alert and utilizing new surveillance methodologies have significantly hampered attempts at infiltration. We are committed to securing our borders and protecting the integrity of our nation,” Yadav reaffirmed.
Security experts stress the importance of vigilance as winter approaches, marking it as a critical time for both forces and the local population. The continuous presence of terrorists at the LoC represents a persistent threat that security forces remain determined to counter. “Support and cooperation from locals are vital in understanding the situational dynamics,” encouraged Yadav, highlighting community engagement as a key component in strengthening security efforts.
The BSF, along with the Indian Army, continues to monitor the LoC meticulously while ensuring that operational readiness remains at a peak to counter any potential infiltration. As the region braces for the upcoming winter, the unwavering commitment of security forces aims to ensure peace and security within the valley.
